Before the abalone was a jewel, it was a quiet builder. This sea animal spends its life layering nacre, the same mother-of-pearl material found inside a pearl, one microscopic sheet at a time. Each crescent in these earrings is cut from that shell, and no two are alike.
The color you see is not pigment. It is structural color: light entering those thin layers, bouncing between them, and returning to your eye as flashes of deep teal, ocean blue, green, and violet. That is why the shimmer shifts as you turn your head or catch the sun. It is a small, visible lesson in resonance, where geometry and light work together to create something that moves.
The crescent shape belongs to the New Moon Collection. The moon moves the tides the abalone calls home, and the first sliver of a new moon has long been a symbol of beginnings and fresh intention. Wear these as a gentle reminder that you are allowed to start again, to grow in phases, and to trust your own rhythm. A gold-plated cap and a small round gold stud frame each crescent, so the shell stays the focus while the whole piece sits soft and light against your face.
They are made to be lived in: easy enough for a beach morning, a market day, or an evening under the stars.
